Hello, I’m Katie. It’s nice to meet you, and I’m so excited to have you here.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate and the owner of Simple Love Counseling. Psychology and counseling have always been interests of mine. I remember taking an Intro to Psych course in college and being fascinated by how the brain works and how malleable it is. My nerdy interest in psychology, coupled with my drive to help people feel seen and heard, found the perfect home in being a counselor. With 10+ years in the mental health field at the bachelor’s level and 6 years as a counselor, there is truly no other profession I would choose.
Speaking from experience, therapy can be a game changer. It’s a safe space where you can talk about your experiences and feelings. I won’t lie … it’s not always rainbows and unicorns. Therapy can be difficult at times, but that’s where true healing and change can happen. In therapy, I aim to guide my clients to be courageous in the uncomfortable. It’s here where we find healing, vulnerability, drive, and deep connections with one another. The best part of my job is building relationships with my clients and witnessing the "lightbulb" moments when they piece the puzzle together or reach out to their partner for support and receive it in an emotionally charged moment.
I believe that we all learn from our experiences and that they shape how we think, behave, feel, and connect with others. In our sessions, we dive into those experiences to uncover who you are at your core, without all the programming we get from society. In couples therapy, we use these moments to build a stronger foundation with your partner. I work from a systemic approach (acknowledging the many influences in your life) and incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to assist and support clients.
When I’m not in session, I like to spend my time lifting weights at the gym, cooking, playing with my dogs and going on walks, reading, playing board games, and annoying my cat and husband.
I’m honored and excited to support you on your journey of discovering you!
